Dr. Jorge Duany, Director of FIU's Cuban Research Institute, has been invited to join the Editorial Board of the journal Cuban Studies. Since its creation in 1970 by Dr. Carmelo Mesa-Lago, Cuban Studies has been the Cuban academic journal par excellence. Cuban Studies has remained loyal to its scholarly mission and has always fostered a transnational community of scholars and thinkers interested in Cuba.

The journal now enters a new period and will be led by a new editorial team. The Editorial Board will consist of five Senior Honorary Members (the founding editor plus the former rotating editors) and 20 regular members. The Senior Editor will be Dr. Alejandro de la Fuente, of Harvard University. Dr. Lillian Guerra, from the University of Florida, will serve as Book Review Editor in the United States, while Dr. Reinaldo Funes, of the Fundación Núñez Jiménez, will be the Book Review Editor in Cuba.

Cuban Studies is the preeminent journal for scholarly work on Cuba. Each volume includes interdisciplinary articles in both English and Spanish and a large book review section. Cuban Studies has been published annually by the University of Pittsburgh Press, beginning with volume 16 in 1985. Beginning with Volume 34, the publication is available electronically through Project MUSE®. More information can be found here.
