Dr. Orlando Jacinto García Appointed Composer in Residence

Dr. Orlando Jacinto García has accepted the position of composer in residence at FIU's CARTA Miami Beach Urban Studios, while continuing his work as professor of composition and coordinator of the composition program for the School of Music. During the fall semester, Dr. García will be on research assignment composing at artists' residencies, and lecturing and conducting his works at festivals and other related events in the U.S. and abroad. As the composer in residence at FIU's Miami Beach Urban Studios, he will be creating and curating new works to be presented at the Studios by FIU faculty, students, and guest artists and ensembles, bringing additional visibility to the space while continuing his work as a composer nationally and internationally.

Dr. García is a CRI Faculty Affiliate, a member of the CRI Faculty Advisory Board, and the former Director of the FIU School of Music. Through some 140 works composed for a wide range of performance genres, he has established himself as an important figure in the new music world.
