CRI Faculty Affiliate Serves as Fulbright Scholar

This year, the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) recognized FIU as a top producer of Fulbright U.S. Scholars. One of the faculty members representing FIU in the Fulbright program is Jorge L. Esquirol, a CRI Faculty Affiliate who was recently named the Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Law at the University of Trento in Italy for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Jorge L. Esquirol is Professor of Law at the FIU College of Law, where he teaches international, comparative, and commercial law. He holds a doctoral degree in law (S.J.D.) from Harvard Law School, focusing on Latin American legal systems. He earned his B.A. in Finance (summa cum laude) from Georgetown University. After earning his J.D. degree at Harvard, he clerked on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and was an associate attorney at the Wall Street firm of Shearman and Sterling. He has been a resident scholar at the Université de Paris X (Nanterre), France; a visiting professor at the University of Miami School of Law; and a visiting researcher at the Constitutional Court of Colombia.
