CRI Welcomes Visiting Scholar from Italy

Valentina La Rosa, a graduate student in foreign languages at the University of Bologna in Italy, will be conducting research on the linguistic attitudes of Cubans in Miami. She will collect information on Cuban migration, the immigrants' social and linguistic adaptation in the United States, and the clash between Spanish and English, through a questionnaire administered to Cubans living in Miami. She will stay in Miami between January 22 and February 5, 2017.

Valentina La Rosa specializes in Foreign Language and Communication, particularly in English and Spanish language, society, and communication. She holds the equivalent of a master's degree in European, Euro-American, and Asian languages from the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Catania in Sicily. She has studied languages at the University of Salamanca in Spain and the Greenwich Study Center in the United Kingdom. She is fluent in Italian, English, French, and Spanish.
