FIU Music Professor's Works Performed at Havana Festival

Dr. Orlando Jacinto García has been invited to participate in the Havana Contemporary Music Festival taking place November 12 through 19, 2017. On November 15, the Música Eterna ensemble will be conducting the Havana premiere of his work Asimetría for string orchestra. Later that week, on November 15, virtuoso violist Anolan González will be performing his solo viola work La fuente de los coyotes. The following evening the Schola Cantorum Carolina will be presenting his choral work El sonido dulce de tu voz.

Dr. Orlando Jacinto García is Composer-in-Residence for the FIU CARTA Miami Beach Urban Studios and Professor of Music in the School of Music at Florida International University. He is also a Faculty Affiliate of FIU's Cuban Research Institute. Born in Havana, Cuba, he migrated to the United States and received his D.M.A. in Music Composition from the University of Miami. A long list of distinguished soloists, ensembles, and orchestras have presented his music at festivals and recitals in most of the major capitals of the world.
