Dr. Eugenio M. Rothe to Receive Professional Award

CRI Faculty Affiliate Dr. Eugenio M. Rothe has been selected to be the recipient of the 2013 Jeanne Spurlock Award on Diversity and Culture from the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). The award goes to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the understanding of diversity and culture in the United States and the world as it pertains to children's mental health, and who have supported the recruitment of child and adolescent psychiatrists from all cultures.

Dr. Rothe will receive his award at AACAP's annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, on October 22–27, 2013. AACAP's mission is to promote mentally healthy children, adolescents, and families through research, training, advocacy, prevention, comprehensive diagnosis, and treatment, and to meet the professional needs of child and adolescent psychiatrists throughout their careers.

Dr. Rothe is Professor of Psychiatry at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and the Robert Stempel School of Public Health at FIU. He is an internationally renowned expert on the mental health issues of immigrants and refugees. He has written extensively about Cuban exiles and other immigrants in the United States.
