Carmelo Mesa-Lago Receives Educator of the Year Award

Dr. Carmelo Mesa-Lago received the award for Educator of the Year 2013 from the National Association of Cuban-American Educators. Dr. Mesa-Lago is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Economics and Latin American Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a member of the Community Advisory Board of FIU's Cuban Research Institute.

Dr. Mesa-Lago was selected for this distinction based on his extraordinary academic merits and his valuable contributions to the study of economic and social changes in Cuba. He offered a lecture titled "Education in Cuba: Past, Present, and Future."

The event was held on Saturday, September 14, at 12:00 PM, during a lunch at the Big Five Club in Miami.
