The Cuban Research Institute benefits from its location in Miami-Dade County, home to the largest concentration of Cubans outside the island. With more than 911,000 residents of Cuban origin in 2023, Miami is situated at the gateway between Cuba and the United States. Indeed, Miami-Dade County has nearly twice as many residents of Cuban origin as the island's second largest city, Santiago de Cuba. Cuban American culture thrives in Miami through numerous Spanish-language media, businesses, schools, churches, clubs, and other voluntary associations.
