Rita M. Cauce, M.A., M.S., is planning officer in the Dean's Office of Florida International University Libraries. She previously served as head of the Cataloging Department of the FIU Libraries.
Ms. Cauce holds a master of arts in library and information science from the University of South Florida and a master of science in educational media from Nova Southeastern University. She earned her bachelor's degree in art history and Spanish literature at Florida State University.
Born in Cuba and raised in Miami and Spain, Ms. Cauce had the opportunity to return and work in Spain for ten years when she was hired by Schiller International University, Madrid, to serve as instructor and librarian. Right before coming to FIU, Ms. Cauce served as the assistant director for technical services at Barry University Library. While at Barry, she coauthored a grant proposal with the Barry University Archivist, Dorothy Jehle, to raise funds to process and organize the Monsignor Bryan O. Walsh / Operation Pedro Pan Papers. Her work with this collection resulted in her article published by Tequesta: The Journal of HistoryMiami in 2012, commemorating Operation Pedro Pan's fiftieth anniversary. Ms. Cauce has also created a research guide to Operation Pedro Pan resources for the FIU Libraries website.
