Ronald M. Lee, Ph.D., is professor emertitus in the Department of Decision Sciences and Information Systems at Florida International University.
Ronald M. Lee holds a Ph.D. in decision sciences from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
His areas of expertise include artificial intelligence, electronic commerce, logic modeling, multilingual information systems, and quantitative methods. Prior to joining Florida International University, Dr. Lee was a professor and director of the Erasmus University Research Institute for Decision and Information Systems. He was also a research fellow for the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, he was associate professor of information systems at the University of Texas at Austin, and earlier served as a research scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Vienna, Austria, and as visiting professor of management at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in Lisbon, Portugal.
His current research focuses on applications of artificial intelligence, Petri nets, and logic modeling to electronic commerce, including representations of electronic trade procedures for international, business-to-business commerce. His more recent interests include the role of information and communication technologies in supporting economic development, as well as globalization processes more generally (pro and con). His specific focus is on local capacity development for emerging economies in areas of e-business, e-government, e-tourism, and e-culture.
