Eugenio M. Rothe, MD, DFAPA, DFAACAP, PsFAAPDP, is professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health and courtesy professor in the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work at Florida International University. He also serves as assistant clerkship director for the medical student psychiatry rotations. 

Dr. Rothe is an internationally renowned expert on the mental health issues of immigrants and refugees, an area in which he has published extensively and received national awards. He is trained in adult, adolescent, child, and forensic psychiatry, as well as psychoanalysis. In addition to his private practice, he serves as psychiatrist for the students of the undergraduate college in both FIU campuses and collaborates in research with the College of Public Health / Division of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at FIU. He holds adjunct academic appointments and collaborates in research with the Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work, the Latin American and Caribbean Center, and the Cuban Research Institute at FIU. He also serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals and holds important officer positions in national and international psychiatric organizations.

Dr. Rothe is director of the Professional Behavior Course at the HWCM, which prepares students for the intense emotional experiences they will encounter in the process of becoming a doctor. The course also focuses on understanding, teaching, and promoting the human qualities that are essential to practice the medical profession and that improve the quality of doctor-patient relationship. He considers this as the "Art of Medicine."

Dr. Rothe obtained his M.D. from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic.
