Supporting faculty and student research is one of the Cuban Research Institute's core objectives. FIU holds extensive library and art collections and archives related to Cuba, as well as its diaspora. The FIU Cuba Poll, conducted continuously since 1991, is the most cited source of data on the Cuba-related attitudes of the Cuban American community. Other major research topics by CRI faculty affiliates include Cuban migration, ethnicity, race, politics, immigration law, mental health, contemporary literature, language, art, music, film, landscape architecture, environmental change, and tropical plant conservation.
